1. What is macaron?
A macaron (/?mɑ?k??ro?n/ mah-k?-rohn; French pronunciation: ?[maka???]) is a French sweet meringue-based confection made with egg white, icing sugar, granulated sugar, almond powder or ground almond, and food colouring. The macaron is commonly filled with ganache, buttercream or jam filling sandwiched between two cookies. 2. How long can macarons be kept?
Macarons should always be kept refrigerated. If they are kept in air-tight container, they can be kept up to two weeks. We would advise to leave them to room temperature (in the air-tight container to prevent air-condensation on the shells) before you consume them as chocolate ganache filling or buttercream filling will be hardened when it is chilled. You can leave them out in room temperature up to four hours (to keep them at their best). Please do not expose macarons to heat as butter and chocolate will melt in hot temperature. Never leave them in the car under hot sun, as even humans will melt too in Malaysia.
3. We claim that our macarons are less sweet. How true is that?
Yes, our macarons are 30% less sweet as compared to the bigger brands which have had their books and recipes published. We have done the maths! Experiments made less sweet macarons possible, that’s how we did it. Yeeeeeaaaay!
4. Are the colourings that we use food safe?
Of course! We only use food grade and FDA approved food colouring. And we try our best to make our macarons look attractive without abusing the colouring. This includes our printed macarons which we use imported food printer for the prints.
5. What is the size of your macaron?
Our round classic macarons are 4.5cm-5cm in diameter. We hand-pipe our macarons. Hence the slight discrepancy in size. We are trying our very best to train our hands to operate in machine-like manner. This we promise.
6. Why are designer macarons more expensive than others?
Designer macarons or customized macarons are more expensive as they are very, very time consuming to be produced. We pipe our customized macarons free hands without mould. All the details are decorated with 100% macaron batter without using royal icing or fondant. Only the finest details such as eyes or mouth for character macarons, we use gourmet writer or a brush to draw the fine lines.
Take for example, we can only pipe 15 character macarons in 3 hours (front and back). Yes, it is that time consuming for the piping part only, excluding batter’s preparation and making the fillings! The finest art takes time and patience, aye? *pattingourback*
7. Why is chocolate ganache the only type of filling you can choose for macaron tower?
The reason being that chocolate ganache holds the weight of the shells better than buttercream fillings and also due to Malaysia’s hot and humid weather. We attach our macarons on the tower with using only toothpicks. We do not use royal icing or chocolate to attach macarons on the tower. We do not use royal icing as we want to avoid the additional sweetness and hard sugar texture on the shells.
8. Do you do delivery?
Yes, we do deliver macarons in loose form by utilising third party services (only for Klang Valley and KL city areas) and charge according to distance but we do not deliver macaron towers.
We do not deliver macaron tower or deliver outstation as we would want to avoid unfortunate incidents occuring during delivery by the delivery company.
